We focus on building collaborative relationships with a diverse community of pregnancy care stakeholders through the following initiatives.
- Undertaking regular Pregnancy Stakeholder Workshops.
- Facilitating staff education across partner health services to engage clinical teams with current projects and research findings.
- Supporting the development of improved systems for auditing and analysis related to Priority Areas for Action.
- Consulting and collaborating with health service clinical leaders and policy makers on project findings and future intervention initiatives.
- Developing research proposals and related funding applications.
- Facilitating the translation and sharing of research findings with pregnancy care communities.
Across all of our projects, we have used systems science and co-design approaches to understand complex challenges in pregnancy care and identify practical opportunities for intervention.
Our work focuses on three Priority Areas for Action:
Optimising caesarean section rates
Addressing the rise of perinatal depression and anxiety
Increasing the proportion of women meeting dietary guidelines in pregnancy
PRT-E is currently trialling a prenatal dietary intervention designed to address these identified drivers.
With funding from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF: 2025947 & 2042534), we are conducting two randomised controlled trials to evaluate the intervention’s effects on maternal diet, perinatal mental health, and child neurodevelopment at two years of age.
